Ukraine

The  Ukraine office  of German Sparkassenstiftung is located in Kiev and opened in February 2017. The local country representative is supported by a banking expert, a project assistant, and a training expert.

German Sparkassenstiftung in Ukraine supports financial institutions that provide responsible and needs-oriented financial services, thus sustainably fostering economic and social development at the local, regional or national level. German Sparkassenstiftung assists their partner institutions in becoming more professional in providing their customers with permanent access to financial services. The main target groups are micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME), as well as poor and socially marginalised groups.

From 2015 until 2021 German Sparkassenstiftung in Ukraine implemented the project “Responsible Finance”, that was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As part of the project, German Sparkassenstiftung helped to increase the level of business literacy of micro, small and medium-sized businesses in collaboration with partners from the financial sector and business associations by implementing training programmes and awareness-raising campaigns.

On 1st of March 2021 German Sparkassenstiftung in Ukraine started implementing a new programme financed by BMZ, which aims at improving access to finance as well as business and risk management skills of MSMEs in rural areas. The first programme phase will last until the end of 2022.
